I'd send them to someone on the boards, as I do not know how to post pictures here, and would think there would be a topic board for things like that, to hold them on the site, but, I guess it is more fun to constantly respond to each individual request, forever answering. Once more, with feeling, for a complete set of pictures on how to do the vacuum advance stop, either home made or Crane, points or HEI, just E/MAIL ME at the address below, and ask for the pics that fit YOUR distributor, points type, or HEI, and I wills end same without cost, nor just that simple.

To set the distance, from the end of the stop to the pull pin, USE A DRILL BIT, or measure a piece of whatever, and make it. I think if you setup your ignition this way you will have no problem with starting hot or cold.īooks, magazines, web boards, smoke signals, cyphers, and all this info plastered here in billions of posts on how to E/MAIL ME and ask for the pictures, I just don't get it.

Ignition Man suggested this for my 358 in my nova and it worked great. 36 is the most you should run for street. A 41/375 weight combo should work, thats what I have on my nova's distributor.

This should give you a idea about what mechanical curve you need to run a total of 36 degrees. Once you get the timing running good at idle run it to 3K and see where your advanced to at that rpm. SBC don't run very well or start with anymore than 22 at idle. I would start at 14, with the vac adv limited to 8 degrees that will give you 22 of advance at idle.ģ. Thumper cams in a 350 run best between 14-18 degrees initial advance. 08 of movement, that will give you 8 degrees of advance.10 will also give 10 degrees.Ģ. You have to fashion it to give the pull arm hooked to vac canister to. I wish I had the pictures on this computer, but I don't this is a new pc. There are a few kits to do this or you can make one. This can be done by limiting the pull arm inside the distributor. Start by limiting your vacuum adv canister to about 8 degrees. One of the guys I work with has a thumper cam in his 350.ġ.

Is my timing good (I tried 36 total and it was too advanced to start while hot so I brought it down) Sometimes it spins over a few times before it starts-why? I have a medium/medium spring combo too, timing is all in by 2800rpm or so. Im using a equus adj light, everything could be +/- a degree or so.
